About Us

Let me give you a little run down of who we are, where we are, where we are going and where we are right now. We’re a family run business…but it hasn’t always been that way. Myself (Verdain) and Ragga himself & a small shoestring budget started our flagship Smithdown Road shop in 2006 after acquiring a small property from a friend and we have gone from strength to strength. Now, along with some of my brothers and sister, we have established ourselves amongst the top Caribbean food outlets in the Northwest. We still trade well from our flagship, but our aim is to bring our unique flavour and passion to other surrounding areas and maybe beyond.

Background

The reason behind the vision was simple: Liverpool & the North-West were crying out for good, original & fresh Caribbean Cuisine. There might have been a couple of places, but what they lacked is what we have in abundance… authenticity. See, Ragga himself hails from Port Antonio which is the capital parish of Portland and is situated in the North-East of the island. It is only about 60 miles from Kingston and is the islands 3rd largest port; it is also famous for its fish and seafood dishes.

Now, we don’t mean to bore you with the geography but to cut a long story short, our Ragga was an island celebrity! His recipes were renowned for their ability to combine originality with his own signature twist and you know that he only believed in using the freshest ingredients & although he’s since returned home he ensured he left his signature and most secret recipes with us, so we can keep spreading the Raggas love with you all.
